Blood Stem Cell Registry

Stem Cell Transplants may be the best treatment option or the only potential for a cure for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell anemia, bone marrow diseases, inherited immune system disorders, MDS, and other diseases.

A patient’s best chance of finding a donor may be with someone of the same ethnic background, as the HLA (human leukocyte antigen) markers used in matching are inherited. The odds of finding a match for a patient of Asian ethnicity is only 47% as compared to 79% for patients of white ethnicity.

Medical research shows that stem cells from younger donors (18 to 35 year age group) provide the greatest chance for transplant success. If you fall in this age group, are in good health, and willing to donate to any patient in need, please join the registry online.
